Riley County Public Works, Manhattan KS
The innovative Resourceful Kansas Program was designed to engage communities throughout the state of Kansas in making a fundamental shift toward a less energy intensive, more energy efficient economy. Following the award of a $3 million grant from the US Department of Energy, Resourceful Kansas paved a blueprint for sustainability with wind energy as a high priority.
The program engaged over 280 organizations throughout the state of Kansas in making a fundamental shift toward an energy efficient economy through a three-tiered approach that included a one day educational seminar, a series of road shows, energy assessments, and follow-up technical assistance. As part of the renewable energy initiative within Resourceful Kansas, four wind turbines were installed at Riley County Public Works to provide Resourceful Kansas participants with a detailed outlook on the benefits of renewable energy, including an NPS 100 kW wind turbine.
Of the four wind turbines the NPS 100 has proven to be the most reliable source of all the installed technology.
