New York Times highlights the benefits of Northern Power's
turbines in Alaska
The New York Times article, "Turbines on the Tundra," highlights the remote Alaskan villages that are benefitting from wind power. Northern Power's Northwind 100 turbines are at the center of this story as they are currently bringing affordable power to eight villages and the hope is to bring wind power to dozens more. Residents are excited about the additions to their community since the turbine's presence translates to more money in their pockets: '"I think the turbines are very helpful" says Alexie Jimmie, who owns one of the two stores in Toksook Bay, "Otherwise, we probably would pay way more than what we are paying."'
