Canada’s Energy Goals are Powered by WindAs the second largest country in the world, Canada’s vast land mass boasts three coastlines, expansive prairies, multiple mountain ranges, numerous islands, and vibrant cities. The wind that blows through this varied terrain may seem a challenge to harness when considering the different environmental conditions, from polar ice to remote coastal communities to urban centers, but Northern Power Systems’ next generation wind turbine technology has created real wind energy solutions for Canada’s diverse landscape.
Northern Power Systems knows extreme environments. Our early HR3 turbine model has survived 89 meters per second winds and -60C temperatures in Antarctica and still continues to operate. We have shipped more than 20 turbines into Alaska and have produced over 3.8 million kilowatt hours of energy to date. Furthermore, Northern has years of experience integrating wind power into remote diesel grids around the world, ensuring that diesel owners and operators can safely and effectively add wind power to their grids without complex system design enhancements. The result of this terrain tested knowledge has culminated in the advanced, community friendly design of the Northern Power 100—a next generation wind turbine as ideally suited for the icy environs of Northern Canada as it is for grocery stores in Nova Scotia.
Northern Power Systems works with various local regional partners throughout the Canadian Provinces to deliver turn key solutions for our customers. Our partners are of a high caliber and capability and can offer tremendous value in addition to a great product.
