Northern Power Systems power technology line now includes the FlexPhase power converter. We pegged this major announcement to our participation in the Energy Storage Association’s 25th Annual Conference and Expo. The event was held in Dallas, TX this year and seemed to reach new height and breadth for an industry coming-of-age. This year’s ESA Con felt more like a commercial trade show. A total of 1000+ participants from energy storage professionals to media and government representatives attended the ESA Con over a span of three days.
There is no doubt that the energy storage industry is growing rapidly but now maturing as well. The process was reflected in the conference’s presentations that were gravitating away from the purely technical on storage products to the commercial application of storage and the development of projects. While energy storage market segment is developing on a global scale, the ESA event is still geared towards the US market, which has the most developed niche markets for storage systems.
We had one of our power converter modules on the display. Our booth was well set-up to meet with pre-arranged customer visits and for impromptu conversations. Steady booth traffic for both days and for the opening night socializing in the exhibit hall. We met a good mix of storage OEMs, project developers and system integrators; a solid blend of the key segments in the storage market. All-in-all, ESA 2015 was a successful event for Northern Power Systems. It’s worth mentioning that during the ESA event, FIAMM and NPS announced a strategic partnership to deliver innovative energy storage solutions and have subsequently announced a partnership with MCM ELVi to augment our inverter product capabilities.
