President and CEO
Troy Patton was named Chief Executive Officer of Northern Power Systems in April 2012. He joined the Company in April of 2009 as President of the Utility Wind business. During that time, he led Northern Power’s successful development of the NPS 2.3MW permanent magnet direct drive wind turbine. Mr. Patton has more than 20 years of experience in the power generation industry. Prior to Northern Power, he was Senior Vice President of engineering and products at Vestas Wind Systems. Before that role, Mr. Patton served in numerous technical and leadership roles at General Electric’s (NYSE: GE) Gas Turbine and Wind Turbine businesses, and helped facilitate GE’s integration of Enron’s wind energy business in 2003. Earlier in his career, he served as a load dispatcher and engineer on a United States aircraft carrier and United States nuclear submarine, respectively. Mr. Patton received a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace and Ocean Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Masters of Business Administration from Clemson University.
Chief Financial Officer
Ciel Caldwell was named Chief Financial Officer of Northern Power Systems in February 2013. Ms. Caldwell joined Northern Power Systems in February of 2011 as Vice President and Corporate Controller. With over 18 years of experience in finance and accounting, Ms. Caldwell has held senior financial leadership positions at various companies in the high-tech sector including 3Com Corporation, Vistaprint, and Level 3 Communications. At the start of her career Ms. Caldwell worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ms. Caldwell is a CPA and earned her Bachelor of Science from Babson College with a major in Accounting.
Chief Technology Officer
Jonathan Lynch joined Northern Power Systems in September 1980 and has taken an active role in all aspects of power system design including mechanical and electrical subsystems, and has a strong knowledge of high-reliability, hybrid power systems and distributed generation technology. He has directed numerous R&D programs funded by agencies such as National Renewable Energy Laboratory, National Science Foundation, and NASA. Prior to joining Northern Power, Mr. Lynch was employed as a design engineer at Carrier Corporation, modeling and designing high-performance refrigeration systems for transportation applications. Mr. Lynch graduated with honors from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering degree.
Chief Operating Officer
Since May 2014, Lawrence (Larry) is the Chief Operating Officer for Northern Power Systems, where he’s responsible for the creation and execution of the company’s operating plan and accountable for all operational matters including direct responsibility for the Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, Product Management, and Services organizations. Prior to this he was the Vice President, Energy Business/Services for Energy Northwest where he was responsible for the company’s non-nuclear power generation and business services assets including hydro, solar, wind and thermal. From 2009 – 2012, Larry held a number of Vice President positions for Clipper Windpower, a former Pratt & Whitney Power Systems company. Prior to joining the Clipper leadership team, Larry had nearly 32 years of experience working for General Electric Company (GE) for 20 years and United Technologies Corporation (UTC) for 12 years. Larry is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York with a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (1984). He also obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (1982) from the University of Hartford, West Hartford, Connecticut, and his Associate in Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (1978) from Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, New York.
Vice President & General Counsel
Elliot Mark joined Northern Power Systems in September 2010 and brings nearly 25 years of corporate legal experience, including structuring equity and debt financings for public and private companies, negotiating mergers and acquisitions, launching and expanding international operations, managing corporate and operational risk and working with executive teams and Boards of Directors to mold business strategy and achieve significant financial growth. Most recently, Mr. Mark served as General Counsel to Gomez, Inc., where he helped to negotiate a strategic $295 million merger with Compuware, as well as re-launch the company’s IPO. Prior to Gomez, Mr. Mark was Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Salary.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: SLRY), where he co-led the company’s 2007 IPO. He also has held the position of General Counsel with Viisage Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: VISG), and eRoom Technology, Inc., and was Associate General Counsel of Arthur D. Little, Inc. and Molten Metal Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MLTN). Mr. Mark began his career at Goodwin Procter LLP in Boston. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Government from Wesleyan University and a Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Reinout G. Oussoren
Vice President Global Sales
Reinout Oussoren joined Northern Power Systems in September 2009. He brings more than 20 years of commercial and operational leadership experience to Northern Power from a variety of international organizations. In his most recent position Mr. Oussoren was the Global Sales Leader for GE Energy’s Membrane Technologies business part of the General Electric Company (NYSE: GE). During previous roles at GE he was responsible as Sales Leader and General Manager for GE Environmental Services in Europe, following the acquisition of BHA Group Holdings, Inc. He served as General Manager – Europe and member of the executive team since 1994 following the successful sale of his personal business, SF Air Filtration AG a leading supplier of filtration parts and components, to BHA Group. Mr. Oussoren has a mechanical engineering degree from MTS in the Netherlands, holds various international patents and completed coursework in strategic marketing and management.
